About Ans Bakker - van der Pluijm

Ans Bakker - van der Pluijm's paintings are distinguished by the use of color, form, and composition. The interplay of these elements results in harmony and balance. Upon viewing her work, you encounter objects that appear not to exist.

For Ans, each painting is a quest:

"I usually have a rough idea of the direction I want to go when starting a piece, but I don’t create a pre-conceived plan for how everything will be placed on the canvas. I cannot and do not want to let go of the tension of my uncertainty while painting. This tension gives me energy."

Ans Bakker - van der Pluijm graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 1985. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally, including at the JAN Museum, the Provincial Government Building of Noord-Holland, the Social Insurance Bank, and galleries in Chicago, Milan, and Zurich.
